@DaveRussell No there really shouldn’t be. Just like not all 18 year olds are adults, not adults age mentally at the same pace. What you are suggesting is ageist. A required annual visit to Walter Reed for tests for physical and cognitive issues would be easy to put in place and as long as EVERY Congressional member is required to take it. @1finekitty

@lucywildboots @1finekitty I disagree. A person is of their time whether they are mentally/physically "all there" or not. These octogenarians are making decisions for people who haven't been born yet, using past conditions and biases as their guide.The world is ready to move on. The Boomers had their turn. They also took Gen X's turn and almost all of the Millennial's turn. It's time to move on. No animosity, just a glaring fact.

But they also recall when unions were commonplace, college was cheap, credit scores didn’t exist, no one cared about employment gaps, college students backpacked through Europe rather than doing internships, careers were decided in college or after and not middle school, toasters worked for 40 years and families shared one vehicle. Not all old ways of doing things should be forgotten.

@goatrodeo @DaveRussell @lucywildboots @1finekitty I hope you’re being sarcastic. I’ve bought 3 toasters, 2 dishwashers, probably over 20 earbuds, a drawer full of random electronics all conked out. Cheap Chinese metal tools and screws bent or broken. Ragged clothes fall apart after three washings. Lights flashing in the car after a year for things that can’t be fixed or need to be taken to a dealership who gauges prices. Don’t even!

Maybe there was a tone, but my intent was simply to underscore your point, at least your stated point, that "not all old ways of doing things should be forgotten." Now, on our second Amazon toaster in 3 years, you touched a nostalgia button of mine that harks back to the day when toasters worked for 40 years. Hence, when toasters were toasters and the times were so much finer. Seriously, mostly.
