@julienxx I'm really sceptical about this "trend" (I know it's not a new thing but it gains popularity again)... in my opinion "psychedelics" and work-related phrases do not belong in the same sentence. Work has the potential to put so much pressure on people and any psycho-active drug (including even caffeine) can have a disastrous effects under pressure.

@ki never tried it myself at the same time but for real creative things (non-work maybe?) I can see where psychoactives and programming might be a good fit

The engineers found LSD helpful in imagining structures as complex as computer chips. Even Steve Jobs said that taking LSD was one of the top 3 most important experiences of his life. The creator of the computer mouse, Doug Engelbart, is also rumoured to have been under the influence whilst inventing this vital.

@julienxx Sure, I know these stories from the silicon valley and there are definitely people who _will_ benefit from taking psychoactive drugs at work, but these people are usually in high positions.Imagine a group of badly paid programmers with depression disorder being pressured into taking acid to come up with creative ideas for a program loaded with technical dept over 20 years.That's the scenario I'd really like to avoid.

I'm going to keep this vague to preserve the person's privacy, but there's a very complex algorithm in an open source OS that was designed with the aid of electroshock therapy. I only know of one other person aware of it.The person that designed it claimed that self therapy before programming sessions helped them tremendously with the math involved.
