@CitizenWald Still waiting for Fort "A.P. Hill" to be renamed here in Virginia. I have driven by it numerous times and every time it irks me just a bit more.

@vecrumba When I was growing up, it never occurred to me that the military of a nation would name its army bases after rebels, seditionists, and traitors. Just figured those were common names with a different history. E.g. the British Navy had an H. M. S. Hood. The things one learns as one gets older.

@CitizenWald A couple of years ago I took a scenic route between NYC and southern VA and stopped in a large "antiques" store. The Confederate imagery and hero worship was, frankly, a but frightening.

@CitizenWald Still thinking about it, the more you dig, the worse it gets. I used to get a small patriotic twinge driving by Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, just own the road. Then I found out that the U.S. government invoked eminent domain to destroy a prosperous Black community to establish part of it.
