       The fact that you see very little presence of the larger cryptocurrency community on the Fediverse shows the actual interest in distributed systems compared to their interest in making money.        @TheVoyageur Good luck with that! I have no issue with blockchain as a technology, it's just a technology/tool, but the whole crypto thing seems to be going about changing money and our economies in the wrong way, things like "local dollars" and circular economies seem far more interesting and community centered to me. I'd think this is because cypto seems to be mainly designed for the use of very wealthy international criminals and scammers despite all the "democratizing money" talk and all that nonsense used to market it.What's your specific interest in it? Blockchain technology? Getting rich? Or do you believe in it for ideological reasons that run counter to how it's acting in the real world?

       @fifilamoura I likely have many of the same criticisms of the blockchain space as you but I maintain my right to get defensive about the term "cryptobro".My first fascination was when bitcoin was new and I was working a lot with credit card merchants. I saw Bitcoin as a simple API to transfer value without having to jump through the hoops of giant credit card companies and then taking such large fees for this.

       @fifilamoura  Since then I have adopted many hobbies (not drugs or anything illegal) that have been made easier by using crypto to transfer value.
