Many people do not have garages where their cars can charge overnight.But it won't stop them. Already, local city governments have started banning cars of this class from circulating, come cities for the entire year, others for the winter, others under certain conditions.For older standards like Euro4, restrictions are already tighter, and this just continues indefinitely. In practice your ability to use old cars is limited, especially Diesel ones. There are less restrictions for gasoline cars but it would not be that absurd if they started applying the same logic to them once we get closer to 2035.The other issue is that cars have gotten more complicated, less reliable and more difficult to repair due to these emissions standards in the first place. They will not last as long as older cars especially if official maintenance is discontinued.

Solutions will manifest because people have no alternatives once those evil cars are removed. In reality, life just gets more miserable.However, even if this worked, I'd be against it. Not having personal transport means not having freedom. Don't forget they required vaccine passports to use public transport here.

Not enough power in the grid to power all the cars, and they want to shift the reliable power grid supply to unreliable "renewable" energy. Electric vehicles take too long to charge to make long distance travel feasible in the same time frames as gas powered cars. They can't hold a charge long enough, and their actual travel distance on each charge is not equal to the claimed travel distance. There's a million problems, and each one is a multi-decade problem. The country would grind to a halt.

Most of the material expense is in making the process take less electricity, making sure the hydrogen isn't vented to the atmosphere and doesn't blow things up because of a spark.After you have hydrogen, grab some carbon monoxide and run it thru a Fischer-Tropsch reactor and you get long chain hydrocarbons. This is the tricky part of this, but Fischer and Tropsch where White German men, so we should also be able to figure it out.A lot of the chemistry was worked out in the 1800s when energy started to become plentiful due to fossil fuels. Gasification, a convenient process for making carbon monoxide, was first done with coal (coal gas) but also works with wood.But all of this is moot if you don't have spare energy to run the processes with.

For car makers, the EU making these laws likely looks like the writing is on the wall. I suspect that this, combined with all the political pressure, will lead them to try to move to all-electric. It's *because* that development takes time that they can't just easily change course. If they start working now with the assumption they'll never make ICE cars again in 10 years they're going to be dismantling all the infrastructure, the factories for it, and stop development in that direction.There's no turning back from that, after you lose expertise and infrastructure built over decades. It would be hard for them to course correct in the opposite direction again.
