       One of the things I hate a lot is all the arguments like "if you had REAL problems, you wouldn't be thinking about identity/mental illness triggers/emotional comfort". I blame Maslow's hierarchy of needs for that.

       @comrade_lecter maslows hierarchy of needs has been showed to be so flawed in so many studies and it got me so pissed when i took a psychology class and professer was talking about it as if it was true for all that i asked him if was going to mention the follow up studies and when he said their was none i talked about the follow up studies and expressed my concern that teaching these old things while not stating they are flawed to our current understanding risks many people in the psych field spreading more bad information including to patients in therapy

       If you don't know about the hierarchy of needs, it's a popular psychology theory that states a human being must first satisfy   physical and material needs, and then move on to the emotional ones. The problem with it is that 1) first of all, it's stolen from an indigenous American tribe (see the picture) and warped, 2) second, there's literally no scientific evidence it works like that. There's no proof people only start caring about "higher" matters after they solved other problems. It's false.
