Well look at this. Linux Foundation is running an invitation-only gathering to define "an open source credo, or statement of common value" in Geneva in July.https://events.linuxfoundation.org/open-source-congress/I wonder who has been invited?#OpenSource #FOSS #FLOSS #Linux

Well look at this report that's intended as the context for the meeting:* Funded by Futurewei (Huawei's US arm)* Executed by a consultant directed by LF* Does not mention OSI or FSF or Stallman* Seems to omit non-commercial players from "community" (obviously I haven't read it in detail yet)https://www.linuxfoundation.org/research/open-source-fragmentation

@webmink I have a feeling that a) we aren’t going to love this “credo”, and b) it will ultimately used for lobbying purposes. I’m mostly pessimistic, but having an “open source lobby” could be better than having no effective lobby at all (“open letters” do not meet this definition) which is how things currently stand. at best this could help educate lawmakers to avoid drafting more ill-conceived laws harming OSS. one can hope

@webmink from the look of it, they didn't even bother inviting OSI. And I doubt they invited someone from gnome, kde or freedeskop. It's probably one of these events where everyone is using a macbook
