I don't disagree, my childhood was rough and I had support and understanding from my parents.But at the same time I've seen things and realizes certain fundamentally truths about life that I wouldn't have realized or cared about if I was a normie with normie interests. We stopped doing show and tell because we needed more time for classes. Same with recess, in order to make more time for classes so we could have better test scores, we got only 15 minutes of recess starting in elementary school and then had nothing but lunch from 5th onward (I got lucky and had a few years of elementary with a full 45 minutes).If anyone brought an animal to school they would have probably been arrested or sent home.

The current system is the "equitable" one (in a negative sense) and their so-called "equitable grading" is the fix. People talk about IQ shredders here, but it's not emphasized enough that the IQ is shredded on both ends. Adults are strongly incentivized not to have kids. Then the few that do have to send their kids to public schools where their talent is ridiculed and their values are consistently undermined.

(Some teachers basically already do this by allowing multiple "revisions" and only taking the final one as the official grade.) - Get rid of quizzes that are like "read chapter 17 by this friday and get asked what was the color of the window curtains because we want to make sure you read it." - Have more time for the projects in class (like Kitler said), so that students who can't do it at home (for whatever reason) aren't penalized for that. Sounds like decent ideas to me. Maybe I'm projecting onto it what I want to see, idk.

I think it's partially caused by grades though. The (few) good teachers I've had all complained about not having the chance to teach anything "real" because the district forced them to spend all their time teaching to standardized test "objectives." But it's not as simple as just getting rid of grades either. At this point, being a public school teacher is so unappealing - on just like a human level - that it's not surprising that the ones who do go into teaching are ... well ... the way they are. I've noticed the best teachers I've had tended to be retirees just doing it out of passion, not worried about career or money.

Just as an example, I find that language and history studies, while great if done for one's pleasure, if done as a career choice is inherently disastrous since most of people will just cling to academia and all the pillars that hold it up, turning a university into one very incestuous mlm scheme which just teaches the next generation of doomed neurotic students.

I learned that they can't judge your SAT scores based on factual content (probably because of niggers) so I just made shit up to respond to the prompt. Scored alright too!I lucked out of ever having to do any "shill for x" type propaganda essays thankfully, that shit is still frowned upon in the US enough to not be a requirement. One exception might be one of my teachers who *really* hated George Soros so he made us write essays about the IMF and the information we were given was basically tailored made to give us a negative conclusion.But even then I hated the kike (wasn't full blown yet though) so I didn't mind.

Yeah. School can be supplemental to the education parents do at home. Ideal would be only part of the day spent at school and the rest is spent with family learning as well.But I think we do lose a lot of potential that's in normal schooling by taking the perspective that all kids are equal/need equal outcomes ect. The idea of teaching thinking by communicating to others (like through an essay) is very old, probably influenced by the idea of the Socratic method. Idk if it has to be that way. Students in the future should also be taught how to use GPT to help themselves think. Essays are a decent way to tell if someone can take in a bunch of information and articulate "the big picture" or at least their own perspective on the thing. Idk how to really test that without banning GPT though
