@ijatz_La_Hojita @Natanox The core problem with Mastodon is that it *hides* the rest of the Fediverse from its users. And now this is carried into hiding the multitude of Mastodon users from people registering through the Mastodon app. This is one big reason I write about the Fediverse instead of merely Mastodon.

@Natanox @revengeday i think this is a good decision because normal people don’t take enough time to read how mastodon works. They want to register and try out. Later they will understand and can move or register a second account, if they stay on the platform. I don’t see a problem in this step which can be canceled any time. Mozilla could bring an app which register an account to their server.

To make it abundantly clear: I do not think Eugen is acting with malevolent intentions. I do however strongly criticize the lack of communication and that what he's currently doing promotes more competition instead of cooperation (even if it's by accident), which the Fediverse should not have.The reason we're so nice to each other here is because most of us expect the other to be inherently good, or at least have good intentions even when they're angry. Competition alienates this culture.

Non-honkies aren’t seeing it the HOA literally ran an instance run by and for Black folks off the fediverse *before* Elon cratered twitter.The HOA threatened to defederate an entire instance unless they kicked a guy off who committed the capital crime of criticizing how mastodon implements “DMs”Then there’s the wide-ranging attacks on anyone pointing out that Twitter as a service had some really nice features.

I mean the legions of people who attacked Black posters for not hiding posts about the racism they face behind CWs, or the ones who attack political posts for not being behind a CW, or the ones who attack TWITTER BRAIN or the ones who are threatening to defederate an instance because one guy on that instance criticized mastodon DMs and the HOA Did Not Like that.

@Natanox @Wraithe not only is the fediverse run by the worst kind of HOA, namely nerds who in my 30+ years in tech are the most petty, vindictive group that will welcome literal Nazis if they are FOSS Stans, but it acts like somehow, services run by 485849 little elons is an improvement. The fediverse is anything *but* nice, and it is definitely not kind by any definition.

@Wraithe I pretty much was as I didn't get what they meant (like... Home-Owners Association?), but if they immediately paint me into a corner with some whiny excuse to block me I'm more than happy about it. Arguing with these people is usually an absolute waste of time and will end up in a block from one side anyway.
