@maxkennerly Mr Swartz was NOT "downloading to many academic journals"he was doing a lot more then that, and it was his second time and the cops were right to arrest and prosecute himhis awful tragic suicide doesn't change that but yeah, the Cops own downloading is 1000x worse

@ArneBab @maxkennerly at the time JSTOR was spending millions of dollars a year to digitize priceless documents Mr Swartz's actions threatened the financial stability of Jstor and he was such an egregious trespasser at MIT that he had to hide, after being warned, in a closet, and his actions cause JSTOR to shut off access to ALL of MIT he deserved to be arrested; or do you think digitization of all those documents occured for free , by some magical process ?

@devnullFacts.Why do I as a US citizen have to pay to gain access to research I already paid to have performed?JSTOR may have spent the time digitizing them which would have been a service worth paying for were it not a service that should have been included in the original research. @maxkennerly To the original post, yes but also the stupids who do or don't realise they are uploading to an American company...with all its news and general question narks... uploading or using it with much of their details and life...and probably they accept it or complain when obviously it's called FACE...BOOK (shock horror if you couldn't see its many meanings until now) or you take candy too easy and complain when your teeth rot.When FB started people would never have opened the door physically to their house to a person offering them FB... but computers or friends (and yes terms and conditions with a tickbox) have done wonders to get people doing it themselves for some short-term gains but forever long-term bigger dangers... But it gets better with the new name for FB... .... META... Just genius as a shortest coldest lethal name... or is it still fun with cat pictures and friends... like innocent things right?
