It feels like many countries like the idea of the International Criminal Court (ICC) but don’t recognize it cause it may also apply on them and then it’s no fun.. only if it can be used against others

@stux international diplomacy in nutshell. I mean, I respect people who still believe in UN. Problem it is so hard to walk away from previous behavioral power models, especially for enriched elites.

@stux I like the idea of the ICC, but I think it's broken since the beginning, in the sense that if I don't like it, I unsubscribe it and I can commit every genocide I can imagine without consequences. A true ICC should be applied worldwide without exceptions.

@stux The ICC is plagued by political interference, selectivity and carries the stigma of victor’s justice, but despite its imperfections is the proper vanue to address alleged international crimes. Regretfully, there is a rather hypocritical and self-serving approach to international law, which can at best be qualified as a bit “a la carte.”

@stux an external body that has the right to detain your citizens is a lapse in the state's sovereignty. For the citizen, it's playing to two masters and getting the squeeze between them

@stux Exactly. The United Nations exists because we believe that the United Nations should exist, which is a dual reality: as a structure and as a set of values. Even if they did exist as a world government, if most of the world's states didn't want it to exist, it couldn't exist. With respect to war, not only Russia does not accept the legitimacy of international courts, nor does the United States of America, and that is because to declare wars from the protection of the office, its necessary not to accept the consequences of your decisions even if what both civilians and soldiers die. It would even be necessary to clearly separate the concept of "Executive power" and "State".The countries feel threatened by a rearmament to which they themselves want to join. Until there is a consensus that protects citizens from their own rulers, accusing the consensus itself of being the cause of the problem, is almost like pointing out the existence of the police as the cause of thieves.

@stux ICC doesn't work because countries exist, and if there were no countries it's just PCC Peoples Criminal Court or GCC Global Criminal Court
