Suppose that one has a problem with acquiring large and heavy items out in a field and needing to haul them out. (Items like boat anchor radios, old computers, and Teletypes, just for example.)Any recommendations on a folding or otherwise highly portable hand truck that might help out in a scenario like that?#hamradio #retrocomputing #hoarding I mean #collecting

@elb We've got a sacktruck with a fold down bit, so it can pick up quite deep loads; it's not that small or light itself though; I've seen some that look like they are lighter. I've also considered getting a proper Dolly; but I've curently got a couple of 3 wheel dollies ( https://www.rolsontools.com/products/storage-handling/trollies/3-wheel-dolly-castor-mover/ ) whose wheels are a bit small and tend to tip; but they're very light and easy to carry.

@penguin42 I've considered furniture or equipment dollies, but they won't deal well with fields and unimproved ground. In my particular use case, I have to be able to pack this thing in and out on my person, and once it's loaded up I need to be able to pull it for hours over chip-and-dust drives and unimproved earth. Thanks for the input!

@elb Is what you actually need more of a sled?

@penguin42 Maybe -- some people use children's wagons, even!I think I'm prepared to use a two-wheeled hand truck with suboptimal tires, and there are a few of those available that will fit in a backpack, but they're mostly imports of questionable quality so I have some trepidation.

@elb https://www.harborfreight.com/material-handling/hand-trucks-carts-dollies/600-lb-capacity-hand-truck-58291.htmlOn rough ground it largely comes down to the tires.I can recommend this model, with your treasure strapped tightly to the cart little can cause an upset.

@silentLurker I totally agree, I have a very similar truck that I use for things like moving PDP-11s around my own house. ;-) In this case, though, I have to be able to pack it in and out and possibly carry it around all day, so a solid frame like this is a bit much. Thanks for the input!
