Someone posted a thread about how the latest #Twitter algorithm works. I also remember people telling me how to post on LinkedIn to get maximum reach. Facebook also has its own rules. I only use those big tech medias for company updates.Well, guess what? I couldn't care less about the so called reach. I'm a human who has sometimes has something to say, but every tiny bit of reaction to that is a bonus, not the default. Everyone's ego needs attention, but I've been able to suppress it. Numbers are not everything. They should NOT matter.Today's "social" media and "influencers" get under my skin. I enjoy #Mastodon and the #Fediverse in general as they're not built around this artificial phenomenon of vanity. #SocialMedia

@rolle Numbers/fame/profit are definitely *the* reason why most people and companies decided to stay on #twitter And it just feels weird to watch this. Especially news media should use their own instances in the Fediverse because the press should be independent and free. Here in 🇨🇿 #Czechia we have a mainstream radio broadcast (Rozhlas) and they started using their own Mastodon instance, but for some reason only few reporters use it and the main news site still promotes Twitter posts heavily 😒

@rolle I'm totally with you here. I wouldn't be running on streets or work corridoors from people to people trying to get their attention to all I say. I like some dialog or reaction, but amount of reach is irrelevant.Corporates marketing KPIs are different than personal some. Even there I honour well made clever posts which make me glad I saw it, instead of someone doing tricks to boost some boring stuff.And some mix those two for their personal SoMe presense. Sad.

@rolle I am with you on this one!!I never even think of looking at my followers numbers, to be fair. It is not what matters!What matters is I can have a chat about living cobditions in South Chicago, admire someone's latest knitting project, travel the world on Sunday just looking at photos and laugh at cartoons people post from all over the planet.No pressure.
