@nozaki damn I remind that I watched this movie on Netflix lol I forgot.but you're right, "Annihilation" has something common with Jigokuraku but also was mediocre I agree.

I wonder if there is a connection between the two works, the movie came out in 2017 and the book it was based on was earlier than that.

Hollywood hasn't been afraid to crib from Japan. Bullet Train was so competent that I wasn't at all surprised to learn it was a Japanese novel, and the Tom Cruise dies a lot movie was supposedly All You Need is Kill

I have not seen Bullet Train but I did hear about it. Asian Americans were salty the author didn't care about casting lol. I will probably watch it with the parents at some point.

There's some gay stuff like suggesting niggers could be effective secret assassins in Japan and some bitch calls God "she" but the story is really good otherwise and the biggest badasses in the movie are the Jap chars even though they don't get a lot of screen time

That said I honestly really liked the movie probably more than anything I've seen in years. It's just very good smart, dumb fun but there's just a few small parts where people who hate you wrote some footnotes into it.

@DrRyanSkelton @mimorinka @nozaki For a short series( around 10 chapters) All you need is kill is probably one of my favorites recently. I'm usually not a fan of the ground hog day type stories, but that one stuck with me. Helps that the characters are likable.
