The Tusken Raiders were clearly inspired by the Fremen in Dune. They're both desert-dwelling people living outside “modern society” often seen as an enemy of the Empire. @FortyTwo Star Wars has Sand Worms?Lucas ripped off a bunch of stuff to make Star Wars. Samurai movies. Flash Gordon serials. Spaghetti Westerns. And Joseph Campbell's book. And probably borrowed plenty from Dune, too.He wasn't any kind of "creative genius" - he was just having fun. The original Star Wars franchise is not serious sci-fi.
