@simon I did a similar project for my father in 2014. He was in his 60s at the time, and I got tired of hearing him switch back and forth between FM stations in the car. I also used a Raspberry Pi. Not with an FM transmitter, but just connected the Pi to the car stereo's aux jack. A friend of mine had written a program called PRS (Personal Radio Station) for his Icecast station in 2002, so I was able to use that to give a radio-like sound with mixing and dynamic range compression.

@simon My favourite:"We recently remodelled our [...] dining area, and I wanted some art piece on the wall but couldn’t decide what. [...] I realised our WiFi password was too complicated to keep reading out to family and friends so I built a QR code in Lego that automatically connects you to our guest WiFi. It looks good, and it’s Lego so it was a fun project with the kids. It took about 4 hours to build. The only problem was having enough 1x1 tiles to put on a 37x37 matrix."

@simon I suppose all my pinout efforts were really built if not for me then to amuse me. Certainly my original site was just a janky one page experiment hosted on a Raspberry Pi… but it got wildly out of hand from there!

@simon Very cool. I remember playing a number stations MP3 to surprise my (now) wife using a solid core wire directly on a GPIO pin. The range was unsurprisingly a joke which deteriorated through just a plaster board wall but was just a bit of fun.The amount of people who've improved the lives of elderly & disabled family is truly heartwarming and I applaud you for your work.
