@boilingsteam I vote "meh, but I see the appeal".I have no sense of it's momentum!

@alcinnz you can see the momentum if there's a lot of people talking about it or not

@boilingsteam it's okay, but Apollo is where the project really hit its stride

@boilingsteam I feel like it has potential and could have a lot of overlap with the Fediverse. https://github.com/dimkr/tootik is an interesting project.

@boilingsteam I don't really care either way. I use it for my own enjoyment.

@boilingsteam still relevant, but to be honest, I spent far less time lurking it than before.

@boilingsteam I feel like it has gone through the stage of bigger (freedom) content creators making videos about it and now is at a slow growth, but have no data to prove that. The idea is still relevant, we desperatly need alternatives to WWW or better organizing it, as it is fully of tracking, bloatware and nonfree software.

@boilingsteam Gemini is still growing, but you have to remember: it is the smolweb, it is meant to grow and move slowly and not at the pace of the web.So it might indeed feels like not moving fast enough, but that's on purpose (IMHO) :).

@bacardi55 my metric for measuring growth would be to find a way to check if there's still more and more content being created or not

@boilingsteam @bacardi55 Gemini is destined to be a niche thing, if you want to measure how popular a service would be you need to ask yourself: Can this be encapsulated via HTTP? If the answer is yes it will never be popular and will be absorbed and become another way of building a website.

@PalePimp @bacardi55 yeah that was also my challenge from Day 1 - is that Gemini is just a subset of the current web capabilities and brings nothing new. So in effect you could use something built on HTTP and be as minimal as you'd like without using Gemini.

@boilingsteam You can look at aggregators like antenna or cosmos to see new content everyday:gemini://skyjake.fi/~Cosmos/recent.gmigemini://warmedal.se/~antenna/

@bacardi55 is this new content created just for gemini or content that is mirrored from HTTP sites?

@boilingsteam On these aggregators, its mostly gemini content. Some user do have http mirrors, but most don't.

@boilingsteam I do not know exactly. Most published things are about technical things I do not understand, but that was already like that when I was more active. I am more present on the Fediverse now than then, so maybe it replaced Gemini in my Internet routine.
