I confess my own #reading has dropped off precipitously for the reasons outlined in this article. I will open "interesting looking" browser tabs "to read later," only to end up with epic 200-tab browser sessions after a few weeks and no idea why the articles looked interesting to begin with. Tab management like Workona or even Trello only go so far in helping to organize things. Likewise curtailing #socialmedia usage. I'm trying to retrain myself to only click on things that are relevant to whatever I'm currently working on, but #ADHD seeks #dopamine and forgets #goodhabits, so it's a pretty constant battle. I may need to go cold turkey and start forming other #dailyhabits around a reading routine!Having said that -- as I'm working on trying to set up a publication that relies on the kind of deep, analytical thinking and writing I enjoy diving into most, how can I / we offer content that encourages reading?

@wordrascal I recently bought a Kobo e-reader that is integrated with Pocket (article saving service). I now save long articles I'm interested in to Pocket and they show up on the ereader, where I'm much more likely to complete them. Sure beats reading features on a monitor.

@wordrascal What helps for me is an ereader that makes using other applications awkward or impossible. Then my phone on silent. Best results of combined with something like a beanbag that's hard to get out of with other devices out of reach. This also works for slow movies that I want to focus on.

@eythian Thank you! What time of day do you tend to read? I'm thinking of making it a lunchtime thing since I don't have a commute and my brain is fried by nightfall lol.

@wordrascal not exactly what you were asking for but I’ve found using arc as a browser refreshing as it hides all that homework for you nightly…

@smoot I used to use OneTab for that... it turned into a graveyard of unread links 😆

@wordrascal I'm pretty sure I'll save this link to Pocket for reading later....and never....see it....again.

@brianvastag that is tempting! Need to see if my Kindle will manage something like that.

@wordrascal Vivaldi added 'workspaces' recently (as well as stacked tabs being a long-standing first class feature) if that might help you first categorise, then second filter either something to read when you want to read, or things to find what's now dated clutter to close. Also the company and browser support mastodon, if that's a plus point to you.

@hatter I'll check it out, thanks. I do use Workona but it ends up being kind of a pain to switch between workspaces. Then again, for a reading habit would be valuable.

@wordrascal I don't really have a schedule, sometimes I'll do it on a quiet evening. Though if I'm at the office I tend to read over lunch. But a routine is probably a good idea.
