I can't get a credit card because I don't earn enough :blobcatgiggle: The irony! And personally I really dislike credit cards but Wasabi(our media storage provider) only accepts them unfort. And no debit or temp cards but real cc's...

@stux What about a secured credit card? They are similar to pre-paid or temp cards, but they have permanent numbers backed by banking institutions. You have to give them the raw cash and have it clear, then you carry that as the 'balance'.

@stux LOL, in my country, everyone can get a credit card with a minimum limit (around USD 13) with just a passport and identity number. If you want a higher limit (up to USD 5,000) you will need to provide some docs from work OR just show that you are an active user (they will higher your limit to USD 1000 just in 3-6 months of use if your monthly spending hits just USD 200 😅.

@stux So not even Revolut? Maybe it’s because of the guarantee that comes with CC; transfers are instant but I think with SEPA you get an ‘undo’. Still, you would think that money is money.

@stux So, you have to send the card in the post or physically show it to them to confirm it’s “real”.

@stux Uh, anyone can get credit cards? I have one and I definitely don't earn 'enough'. ING in my case.

@stux Credit cards are evil, anyway. I would say stay away from them -- but I see (just now) that you need them for Wasabi. Sorry about that.

@stux I don't even understand why a VISA or MC would be refused for being prepaid. Why even pass that flag on to anyone? So long as the card balance allows the payment, who even cares why or how?

@justafrog Well, im not an expert but i think the reason is simpleWith prepaid cards you could in theory build up dept from the previous month and never payAnd with a i dunno, regular it will always gets covered by the bank i guess and ripped from your account so Wasabi will always get the money

@stux Been turned down plenty, too. I tried several times to replace the one I got as a student with one that has cheaper fees. When I got the student card they must have assumed I‘d be making more money after graduation. I got lucky they didn‘t ask about my major. ;p

@stux Except that any CC has a credit limit and it's hard no for just one cent over that limit.Whether that limit is at 0 or at a negative value seems a little academic.Business-wise, it makes more sense to include an insurance premium in everyone's monthlies to deal with the defaulters.I say that it makes sense, but we're talking about corporate policy here, which has absolutely zero obligation to make sense.

@stux I suppose BUNQ would help you with that if you are in the Netherlands. They are essentially debit account but would provide you with a Mastercard which works like any other credit card. At least that’s my experience

@stux That is unfortunate. May be it is their processor. So long as the card is issued under a recognised organisation, it shall be accepted.

@stux there are resellers of Wasabi like Cloudland that might be able to help out. They can provide post-paid services.
