@endlessmike one thing that i think will greatly harm the development of this technology is the amount of AI content that's already being produced. For example, AI image generators need to train on hundreds of thousands of images to produce good-looking images. HOWEVER, what happens if the majority of images the AI trains on are already also AI generated? What I guess will happen is that there'll be a harmful feedback loop that will decrease the quality of the AI generated images. Same thing with AI generated text, video and audio.What do you think?

@HOLOCAUST Using AI to create the training data sets will most likely improve the quality over time. Just look at the llama/alpaca/vicuna scene. Those models were trained off of data sets created by gpt4, and they work great.

@endlessmike @HOLOCAUST Yeah I think the quality of training will improve enough to balance things out as far as quality. However I do think when 95% of media is AI generated there will be a feedback loop which will practically result in a feeling of cognitive dissonance in all media creating more general alienation and atomization in society. I'm sure there will be a backlash against it eventually.

@endlessmike This is degeneration that may happen over time. When you have a model that is as good as gpt4, any derivative of gpt4 may not be as good as it, but it's still going to be really good. What happens when you get a derivative of a derivative? GRANTED, i'm not a programmer and I'm desperate to see any way that this technology can be halted ultimately, what will stop all development is just not having the people smart enough to do it. If you watch Ed Dutton, that's what he'd have you believe

@HOLOCAUST There are already models that are trained to recognize AI generated artwork, so I doubt filtering the datasets would be much of a problem.
