For many years, a running joke on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" was when he'd come out and say something like, "Wow, it sure was hot here in Burbank today!" And then some idiot would yell out, "How hot was it?" And Johnny would give a punch line. On one show, that idiot was me.

@debonairetoast I had a friend who was a page at NBC Burbank. He could get me on the VIP clipboard for the show, which he did multiple times. So while the audience lined up outside in the Burbank heat (show taped late afternoon), I could just go past them all up to the door, they'd check me off the list, and in I'd go, great reserved taped off seats, usually sitting next to relatives or friends of the celebrities on the show that day.
