"boring" is the best compliment (and term of endearment) i can give a #linux distro for my main/workstation PC use.. ..achieving the boring status [to me] means it "just works" and updates are relatively uneventful and calm/stable.. ..#debian is currently at the top of my list, and my brief testing of #openSUSE #leap puts it somewhere high up on this list too.. ..it's nice to just use a computer as a "computer" for a daily driver.. #justsayin

@e33io Do you have any idea, for you, is it often you need to install a Flat or Snap on Debian because you really need or want a more recent release of a sw? Which desktop do you use for Debian? I have Debian with Xfce installed actually on this laptop where I for the moment use Mint, I like Debian very much no doubt but I like Mint as well. But still on the move from macOS to Linux as Daily driver.

@hehemrin i only use a couple of flatpaks when i don't want to use the versions that are in the repos (ex: kdenlive as a flatpak to avoid all it's dependencies getting installed on a non-KDE desktop).. ..but i'm usually ok with old versions of software as long as they are fully functional.. ..i primarily use the i3 window manager instead of a desktop environment, but i sometimes use xfce on test PCs and VMs

@hehemrin it has a simple and very portable configuration file, and it's nice to be able to not have to use the mouse quite as much, here is a list of the main keybindings i use:https://e33.io/1121/#keybindings

@e33io It's tempting to one day give it a try one day, at least to explore as non-daily. By the way, unrelated, have you ever tried Haiku OS? I've only tested what it looks like on a live-USB 1-2 years ago, but also something I would like to install and explore in the future.

@hehemrin i've read about it, and watched some first-look videos, but never tried it.. ..if i ever test the waters outside of linux, i will probably try out FreeBSD
