I imagine Texas' enforcement of red flag laws is nonexistent. But this is an example of a situation where strong, enforced red flag laws would have saved all of these lives, preventing the awful trauma for the survivors. @ArenaCops @TonyStark You make great points. The bizarre thing with Texas and politics is that it's essentially casting in with states like Mississippi, Alabama, etc. that have nonexistent economies. If Texas embraced a moderate worldview, the state could be doing more business with California and New York while also being politically more sympathetic to the South. Why Texas feels the need to lead the charge for the neo-Confederacy is baffling since it is economically not the best path forward.

@Susan_Larson_TN @Lowie @TonyStark The more the Republicans push their Christo-fascism, the more young people leave the faith. I just can't grasp why the GOP didn't embrace a more libertarian worldview back in 2012 that would abandon cultural issues and be about limited spending. I don't agree with that approach, but at least it wouldn't be alienating huge swaths of people.

@stopgopfox They pretend to be about limited spending the same way they pretend to be Christian, pretend to be anti-abortion, etc etc. None of it is true, and telling people on welfare you're going to cut their welfare is less of a winning strategy than giving poor whites a target to blame for their misery.
