       I wish there was some setting between "hide boosts" and "let people flood your timeline with nine hundred boosts in 30 seconds". I can always tell when someone I follow opens Mastodon for the first time today, because I get to see a flood of boosts from them. Maybe "only one boost every X minutes"? I hide boosts from so, so many people just because it's always hundreds of boosts in under an hour, then nothing for eight hours. And because they're catching up, most of the boosts are things I've already seen.

       @Quilly Probably not. If you do, people can just hide your boosts. I'm just wishing I had a setting between "hide all" and "hide nothing" for boosts. When you follow a couple hundred people it can be a lot. Also, note that nopony's boosts ever show up on the local timeline. Only your followers see them. So no matter how much you boost, you're never at risk of drowning out local conversation.

       @fastfingeYeah, it's just that i don't think a boost seen/liked by none is useful so i'd like to tend to do boosts that are worth it

       @Quilly that’s pretty subjective though. Personally I try to limit myself to three or four an hour. But that’s just me. Do what feels right for you!

       @Quilly @fastfinge i dont boost many other things unless i really like it. the main thing i boost is my own fic recommendation normally 12 hours after the initial post so its visible to people in the opposite timezone to myself

       @Quilly @fastfinge i am in AU so i have found over the years that everyone is out of sync with timezone of my posts so i find it helps people. probably was more useful on twitter but i know some people see the 2nd post and see the fic they may have missed
