Ben Collins with NBC just Tweeted that he is on Bluesky. He added: "When it fully launches, I'd bet it's going to just usurp [Twitter]. It works and it looks and feels like this one, which is all we ever asked. Comes down to moderation, desktop experience, and reliability, but it feels like the answer."That's not all I ever asked. I find this very disappointing.I guess if it kills the real Twitter that would be a small consolation.

@Teri_Kanefield I am with you on this. Disappointed in their willingness to re-establish themselves on Bluesky while they refuse to consider the fediverse and/or Mastodon. But if it leads to more abandoning Twitter, it serves a purpose. I guess. Or, more accurately, I hope.

Adding: I also remember lots of big names saying Post would be the next big thing. And several accounts I followed on Twitter are now posting both to Twitter and Post.

@Teri_Kanefield For social engagement, I’m glad I chose Mastodon. But I used to check Twitter through their (now defunct) ‘explore’ feature for breaking news/disaster situations. I’m not sure how that gets addressed going forward. It was really the only thing I thought twitter was good for. It been broken in this respect since Elmo bought it.

@Teri_Kanefield What everyone is missing is the microblogging.Post is blog format.Spoutible is one column, no TweetDeck style grid, unless I missed it.The only place that "feels" like Twitter to me is Mastodon, where you can do either format. Oh, and CounterSocial, which I'm not fond of for various reasons.

@GottaLaff @Teri_Kanefield Post is attempting to deconstruct the news industry by breaking publisher dollars into micropayment pennies so they can skim off the top; goal is 1000 Seth Abramsons under their banner. The algorithm and behavior management systems they are rolling out to achieve that end, along with the complete lack of ethics among their leadership, are, frankly, repulsive.

@GottaLaff @Teri_Kanefield I get it about Mastodon's usability, altho it only takes a short time to figure it out and get comfortable. After trying Post and Spoutible and CounterSocial and Mushroom (and that other one that broke...) I realized what sets Mastodon head and shoulders above the rest is that it is unbillionaired. It's not some rich clown's pet project, and it's not the golden egg of someone hoping to get rich. It exists for us to use, period!
