@umad80 I have been away from home for the last several weeks for g's business. In the meantime, my sweet dog died in my arms today from liver failure (cancer) and I am in a very bad place. I would be honored to read your story... but please give me a few days to mourn. She died in the evening and there is nowhere to take her right now, so we literally wrapped her in her fav blanket, put her in a garbage sac and covered her in ice. We will take her to the vet in the morning. I am v sad.

@ChaplainEric I am so sorry you are going through it. Molly was so young (10) and seemed perfectly healthy until a few weeks ago. She just decompensated so quickly.. We board our animals at our Vet's doggie day care, so we knew she would be well cared for while we were gone, and they did a diagnostic ultrasound on Thursday, Apr 20. That's when they called to tell me that her liver had been destroyed by Cancer and she had days to live. At least we were able to say goodbye. 💔 😭 @umad80

@umad80 We took her to the vet today, and all the techs and employees that took care of her came out to say that they all knew she was just holding on long enough to say goodbye. Believe it or not, they were all comforted by the fact that she lived long enough to die at home, even if she only lasted 10 minutes. I held her in my arms from the moment they gave her back to me until the moment she let go, about an hour in total. Dogs in general are the most wonderful creatures.

@wziminer They are. The last several dogs I’ve had, we had to put down. We had an Irish Setter when I was a little kid that passed away at home. She actually waited for my dad to come home and my mom found her in the morning. No one knew she was sick, had a tumor rupture her spleen. Dogs are just everything.
