The FBI has done an investigation about 'te good guy with a gun' and how the NRA says the more people are amred the safer it is?Well that's total bull crap! In only 6(!!!)% of the mass shootings there's a 'good guy with a gun' to save the dayThe other situations are people that are unarmed...Stop speeading those nasty NRA gun lies...People don't have the responsiblity to carry guns. @stux speaking as someone who literally despises the NRA, saying only 6% of the mass shootings having an armed individual to stop the shooter in response to someone saying we need more individuals armed to stop shootings is not nearly the gotcha that you think it is. Its essentially saying, "you think we need more people with guns to stop mass shooters? Well I'll have you know there's almost nobody out there with a gun to stop mass shooters! Checkmate, republicans!" Deeply stupid.Secondly, the question of gun control is WAY more complicated in America than folks across the pond think it is, considering that minorities are frisked and generally affected at significantly higher rates than white people. Many of the gun control laws in effect now were also enacted by none other than Ronald Reagan to curb Black Panther groups and keep majority-black neighborhoods from being able to keep themselves safe.Tldr, you don't know what you're talking about. Please stop.

@stux the military trains constantly with guns, yet “friendly fire” was a large percentage of the casualties in our endless, pointless war. Why? Because even with lots of training guns are deadly and it can be hard to know who is friends or foe in a stressful situation. It’s also easy to miss. Most people here with guns don’t really know how to use them, not have the temperament to use them. A “good” guy with a gun is apt to make things worse, not better. Also guns are not protected under the second amendment. The militia (military) having guns is. It’s just written poorly, and people see what they want to see. Also it was written at a time when most guns could fire at a whopping two or three rounds per minute. The folks writing that could have even imagined the weapons we have today. Ban all guns, is what I say.

@stux consider that the bulk of shootings take place in gun free zones so there is no good guy with a gun because good guys follow the law and shooters dont. So all gun laws end up doing is providing safety for bad guys.

@stux People abuse that term so often. The First Amendment doesn't say shit about anyone except Congress. Private entities can kick you off their property/platform for pretty much any (including no) reason at all. The only exceptions have nothing to do with what you say on/in there

@stux I have always been disgusted by the "good guy with a gun" narrative. Police shoot innocent people by accident regularly. How much worse does it get when some wannabe hero gets involved. Owning a gun increases your odds of being shot with a gun. I have lived 50 years in the United States without one and I plan to continue.

@stux There was a homeowner in New Mexico that was just killed by the cops for "standing his ground" in his own home when they mistakenly went to the wrong house in the middle of the night. His wife picked up her dead husband's gun and started firing back not knowing they were police. She's lucky to be alive. This is what you get when everyone has a gun.
