       There's so much that I feels like needs to be written on the current "AI" hype but writing is slow and hard to do when one has other responsibilities. I just hope more people working against the baseless hype can take some time to put more stuff out.Because holy shit have the claims by the "AI experts" become unhinged.

       @tante I've really been thinking about AI as it relates to digital enclosure and the commons. The web is often considered a commons but it often lacks some key features associated with a commons -- the biggest and most obvious now being exclusion. We really have no way to stop people from ingesting all the data we create freely.I have a minimal readership and have gotten a post or two out about my interactions, but I have a longer piece that is sitting in a file.

       @tante Gary Marcus sent out a newsletter citing Sam Altman (of all people) as saying that we need a new approach, that just building bigger statistical tables isn’t enough to take the next step. If it’s gotten through to Altman (who maybe doesn’t want to be accused of being the Sam Bankman Fried of “AI”), then I think there’s some hope the hype balloon is starting to deflate.
