Dear developers, data scientists, and hackers:The phrase “Set your OpenAI API key” in ANY repo/project/tool docs means you have just excluded a whole bunch of humans we’ve been trying to *include* in all our efforts to democratize data science/coding/learning/hacking.As far as I know, there is no “foundation” or “organization” providing financial support for marginalized folks to afford “OpenAI API keys”.Each time you require one to “show off”, you become part of the problem.—hrbrmstr

What finally caused me to type what has been in my head for the past 4 weeks (as I’ve seen an exponential increase in the # of projects that have this requirement appear) is that the $DEITY forsaken bug bounty folks have fallen for OpenAI’s bait: https://github.com/tbiehn/thoughtloom (scroll to the end).

Also, PLEASE do not set up a foundation/org for this.The jack@$$es at OpenAPI do not need more corporate welfare than they already have.There are plenty of FOSS giant LLMs to use. Sure, it requires effort (using OpenAPI is being 100% lazy), but it makes this tech way more available to all. Foundation the heck out of that.It’s bad enough global politicians and billionaires don’t care about us regular humans. Y’all should be better than them.
