Okay, whew. I have it ready a bit early:This week's blog post responding to the outpouring and anger and rage after the Dominion lawsuit. It could have been called "What to Expect from Future Defamation Cases against Fox.”Put on your nerd glasses for this one, grab a warm beverage, and find a comfy chair.Maybe after this I'll never have to write another blog post. I'll be able to sing 🎶 My Work Is Done, My Work is Done 🎶https://terikanefield.com/the-dominon-fox-settlement-and-the-hunger-for-justice/

@Teri_Kanefield you didn’t reply to my comment, but quoted me to talk about your wrong assumption; that’s not great. I guess you missed the more important part of my comment, that people need to see a way toward a healthy society - where harms can be addressed even when those harmed aren’t fantastically wealthy, and where ordinary people have a say in how things are done. Of course people who see no hope for that get invested in the few things that hint in that direction

@Teri_Kanefield I don’t see a change; I do see new comments so I don’t think it’s the in-app browser being weird. Certainly no change to your wrong assumption. It looks like you deleted your original reply while I was replying to it, I guess I might as well put that here

@Teri_Kanefield I wasn’t demanding that someone else solve the problem, just seeing this case as another example and understanding that to be the source of much of the anger. Most of the things on that list I don’t have the capacity to do, and I only need one job to get by; many have much less. You seem to think that being angry about an unjust society is somehow wrong, or that a theoretical possibility that most can’t actually pursue is enough, but neither are the case

@ShadSterling My response:There have always been wealthy people trying to subvert our democracy from the enslavers to the robber barons. Modern media allows bad information to travel faster, but the problem of misinformation and bad information has always been around. We solve problems and work to maintain a democracy the way we always have. The hard way. See this list for how:https://terikanefield.com/things-to-do/Also, read a biography of Thurgood Marshall to find out how it's done.1/

@ShadSterling Here is what I didn't put in the blog post: Studying history is helpful because you can see that what is happening now is not new. Heather Cox Richardson says we have had 2 oligarchies in the past: Slavery and the age of robber barons. (I'd add that racial segregation fits in there as a third)We got out of the first oligarchy through the Civil War.We got out of the second through the New Deal regulations.2/

@ShadSterling If you think nothing like this has ever happened (which comes from not understanding history) it's easy to feel shocked and helpless.Actually another good book to read would be Simple Justice by Richard Kluger. You'll see that the problem isn't new and the solutions are the same. And the "government" can't solve the problem. We have to do it.3/
