So, if his funnel says that Mastodon is mastodon.social, that's where they end up. Moving after then is a lot more friction.In principle they could use another app, in principle they could get that information elsewhere, in principle they could use something else which implements Mastodon's dialect of AP, in principle they could move instance, but this is a lot of "in principle" caveats to Rochko's consolidation of power which rely entirely on what could theoretically happen, instead of what it actually does.If you don't care about the fate of open systems, that's your choice of course, but you're not going to get very far demanding this apathy from others.
