Every time I see a car nowadays I think "That looks like every other car I've ever seen." I hate it. They're so visually uninspired and bland. Every modern car is the same design, devoured and regurgitated by some faggot calling himself an artist.

@SpaceElf my least favorite part is the integration of the large display screens.Instead of looking like they belong there a lot of car manufacturers just make it look like somebody crammed a tablet into their dashboard.

@SpaceElfWhat you describe is just but a fragment of the ultimate end-product of the "function over form" technological mindset. They are are all the same, because outside of the mathematically provable optimal solutions between factors like car size / aerodynamics / manufacturing of scale / passenger safety there is no economic reasons for artsy innovation. In fact, once rest of the functional factors are accounted for, the less room there is for artistic expression. Our modern materialistic scientific metaphysics leads everything to a functionally perfected mediocrity.

@CheapMeds I don't just mean the shape. Look at the colour, the panel detailing, the shape of headlights, every element is exactly the same as every other element. You don't see split colour vehicles, white wall tires, etc etc etc.

@SpaceElf What I wrote also applies to the smaller factors. Even for something like colors, there is a technologic incentive for it to be a certain way.For example. Something arbitrary seeming like Colors. Statistically there will always be a hand full of top favorites, which implies that deviation from them is an unnecessary business risk. There is even a strange functional logic to statistical correlation that white cars end up in fewer accidents that others colored cars.Outside of colors smaller details are a product of economics of scale. Making things on mass and interchangeable has a clear cost benefit.I don't see any reason for this to change, unless things are forced to change via collapse of the global economic system, which would force humanity back into to somewhat blindly throwing quant ideas against a wall and seeing what sticks.Until then there is no reason for anything to be "quant" again.

@CheapMeds To anyone curious this song is Acid Rain by Lorn. They've got a very good discography and I strongly recommend them. Gloomy Piss-Machine Hell vibes. Play them a lot when I run Cyberpunk for friends.
