Looks like everything is fine, and now to reboot and check in on it. I have spare live USBs anyway in case something goes terribly wrong

They seem to be focused on btrfs, never used it, but I guess we'll see how it performs.I'm just glad I'll be able to get a lot of arch packages without crazy extra steps at this point.I also hope ricing isn't too hard

@kittenlikeasmallcat rolling release issues. Updated a package and it crashed every time I opened a program. I guess I now know why I want to stick with stable distros.Bleeding edge is fun and all, but not a daily driver for me

@littletranspunk Did you look into holding the offending package back? It’s just one flag on the pacman command iirc.

@kittenlikeasmallcat I would hold back packages if they weren't placed front and center with the primary, user-friendly, update program

@littletranspunk I didn’t even know garuda had like a gui frontend for pacman but I guess it makes sense. Apparently it’s pamac? Not to say you should, but I believe you could hold/ downgrade a package from pamac too.I just think garuda’s neat in principal I’ve never used it - never had hardware that it would be able to use, so I’m speaking from ignorance, and I’ve also only ever used octopi when I was on artix, not pamac. Are you planning on dual booting Mint/Garuda for now? Nothing against Mint, it’s fantastic obviously.

@kittenlikeasmallcat Rocket League didn't work anyway. Got almost to the menu, after the credits for engine and title, but it just looks at the ball and doesn't tilt the camera to look at the car and show the menu like it usually does.I am going to try new stuff with Mint, might as well since arch based distro didn't work out, because I still want to progress further into the Linux knowledge I have yet to gain

@kittenlikeasmallcat I plan on experimenting in a VM for Garuda and making sure I understand it before diving in again. Installing packages alone was kind of a crazy loop for me since I've used Debian based distros for so long.Fedora isn't too different since it's basically yum instead of apt, but pacman was just a wild change for me. I have about as much experience with arch based systems as I did with Linux in general when I first installed Ubuntu on my PC when I was 16, 16 years ago.

@littletranspunk legit. I hopped from mint strait to artix, and then did a bunch of exploring of other distros after that. I’ve always been a little out of my element lost when it comes to debian and fedora tbh, so I can relate, only backwards.

@kittenlikeasmallcat in any case, this will give me an opportunity to try building packages from source and let me figure out Android emulation while I still have my Xbox controller with stick drift that my phone doesn't identify as a controller. (Probably the proprietary rgb bs, next controller will be dumb AF or wireless)
