PINE64 employees thinking Manjaro was going to actually make their product work better was a huge and historical blunder for mobile Linux. Manjaro is poorly ran and composed of nothing but grifters."PINE64 cares only about Manjaro, and Manjaro does not care about working with any other distributions. This is no longer a community that listens to software developers. As a representative of postmarketOS, there is no further reason for me to be directly involved with PINE64 if the only opinions that matter are those of Manjaro."

postmarketOS clearly knows what they are doing and have made the Pinephone CE a very usable and stable device.

@mitchconner @charlie_root Manjaro was a nice intro into arch back in the day. Now there are too many better options. Ubuntu derivatives are pretty good for gaming, I just remove snaps out of spite.

@spitfire @mitchconner Arch Linux is one of those distros that if you are unwilling to install it from the wiki, you really shouldn't use it, you are missing the point of Arch Linux. These arch distros are truly pointless.

@charlie_root @spitfire you can gatekeep Arch all you want but I love all the rice Garuda comes with. I add the CashyOS pacman repos for x86_64 v3 optimized build and the result is the OS of my dreams. BTW Steam Deck owners are Arch users too.

@spitfire @charlie_root spite is my favorite reason to choose software. MX Linux is a fine choice since it doesn't use systemd by default. Cuckdom-d

@charlie_root @mitchconner @spitfire isn’t archbang still going? if it’s anything like crunchbang in design then it likely stays true to the arch way. you can make distros like that.

@mitchconner @spitfire I know steamos is built on Arch, you miss the point. Nothing is being gatekeeped, there is literally an instruction manual. Its not complicated, there are 12 year old that use Arch. The point is to learn more about the underlying components of your system. To be more involved in your install as opposed to using someone else's setup. Then when things go wrong, its easy to pinpoint the problem instead of just going online to complain. Its just laziness really.

@charlie_root @spitfire I'm not gatekeeping, but here are the specific requirements that one should be held to in order to enter this gate 🤣

@mitchconner @spitfire Sounds like a skill issue :dude_smug: Maybe they should just use Windows, its has .exe and Candy Crush.

@mitchconner @spitfire @charlie_root I like MX but have had issues installing Mate on there before so prefer distros where I can get that preinstalled.

@PublicLewdness @charlie_root @spitfire well you don't have to use their kernel but I suggest trying both and seeing what works better for your hardware. You can use their packages, with the existing zen kernel in Garuda. It simply upgrades huge chunks of the system to v3 or v4 optimized builds when you add their repos. https://wiki.cachyos.org/en/home/cachyos-kernels
