@victoria On that note, my wife "hates" blue cheese. I was recently quite pleased to find a nice bit of Stilton, you don't see it much around here. I offered her a bit, and she made the usual face when it was under her nose. Then I sandwiched it between two shards of bacon with a bit of onion jam on the top, and forced it into her mouth.3 lessons: one, if you think you don't like blue cheese you're just doing it wrong. Two, burgers with Stilton, bacon and onion jam are delicious. Three, eating an entire wedge of very rich cheese is liable to cause stomach upsets in small women.

I like guayabas, and there's no guayaba without worm in it. Same for mangoes... and almost any fruit here. As for mold, it's not disgust as much as it is bad experiences when eating food that has had it. So i stay away from it.

If i realize after the fact, oh well, nothing to do.But the thing with mold is that if you see it on the surface, the stuff has already spread all over inside the food. @hidden @cinerion @parker @victoria Hard cheese or cream cheese? No big deal, although I cut a LOT of cream cheese because eating it when sketchy is an easy way to get bubble guts. Shredded cheese with mold goes in the trash. Loaf of bread almost never lasts that long and if it has it it's probably because we accidentally hid it behind other stuff and it's super old. Most fruits that develop mold are going to be trashed because mold usually happens after the fruit is well past saving. The only exception for that is berries, which often mold for no reason at all when perfectly healthy just from one smashed one getting juices on stuff. Always wash berries and put in a mason jar with lid so they last for weeks instead of days. Gets some of the residual mold spores off too.

All other things won't really kill you unless there's absurd levels of negligence. Eating mold is like russian roulette. If it the mycotoxins don't you kill at the moment, you're probably safe unless you eat it continuously for a long time and will get a stomachache at most.

Like I enjoy steak tartare (for example) and it doesn't disgust me, but I'm also very careful about where I eat it. Ticks just get a free ride into your house before nestling unnoticed in your armpit. Whereas they can be easier to spot on bare skin while you're still outside. If you're a hairy fellow, you can sometimes feel them walking between your leg hairs. Goes for dog ticks and deer ticks.I just use deet.

At my old company we had one sneak up on a lady testing a water well & bite her on the leg after they startled each other.
