@boilingsteam I gave up on it awhile ago. Nobara has my heart now, though I'd consider giving Garuda a try.

@jccpalmer @boilingsteam I've been wanting to move out of Windows and had been eyeing Manjaro, but reading this and the history of problems, maybe I should look elsewhere. I've been trying out different OS/desktops using Virtualbox, I'll have to check out Nobara. It seems to have a good reputation.

@boilingsteam Arch all the way here coming out of Ubuntu (which had been my distro since 2012) tried Manjaro and did not like it.Arch works nicely for gaming, and if it wasn't for the snap shenanigans (and other canonical bad habits) I would still be using Ubuntu (with Kisak PPA).What is the most used distro for gaming these days? Out of genuine curiosity, I have no idea.

@boilingsteam @PalePimp @boilingsteam Mint is rock solid but if you are running a new card you're usually lagging behind on drivers pretty bad.

@JRamsey @boilingsteam Yeah, I agree, if I was starting over I would choose Mint, it is the better Ubuntu. Clement (the maintainer/creator) is a great guy, very open minded and has a laser focus and good understanding of how to make a good desktop. Mint is what I recommend to people who ask me what Linux to use to start with and what I advise to people who want to move away from windows.I moved to Arch because I started toying with rolling, Gentoo is too involved for my taste, debian sid is too volatile and always seem dubious with commercial stuff like "Skype" which I'm forced to use although I think with flatpak the pain is less these days, Tried Manjaro and found that I was better with pure Arch which is what I settled for, so far has the right equilibrium of stable-modern but not too edge modern. What is pissing me off big time is Ubuntu, IMHO they are becoming the abusive partner.

@PalePimp @JRamsey Mint is great but I really loathe the 2 years update cycle, where you have to reinstall everything (the upgrade to the newer base is prone to failures)

@boilingsteam @boilingsteam The expired cert issue is real, I keep getting that issue every week since switching to Manjaro. comes and goes frequently, otherwise the distro is a slam dunk improvement for me. Coming from Mint though having the latest drivers on my hardware saw a major imorovement. Mint gave zero trouble besides a much slower update cycle.

@boilingsteam Not surprised given the 4 times SSL certificates expired and the 2 Pamac DDoSings!

@boilingsteam What your graphs suggest:- that ProtonDB users are down on the Manjaro side. Maybe they prefer native games | use the SteamDeck to play on Steam?- that the results are biased in favor of Arch in the 1st graph (Steam Deck=Arch)- that the spread of distributions tends to be balanced around 7 main ones- that Manjaro's results increase in 2023- that the results of the Steam Deck largely bias the results of the other distributions, and that your graphs give the age of the captain.
