       I painted this interpretation of Johannes Vermeer’s (1632-1675) ‘Woman in Blue Reading a Letter’ as a Christmas gift this year for my mother. I learned a lot about using a limited palette, but almost nothing on light and shadow because Vermeer was so genius I couldn’t begin to crack his code. And yes, I know there’s a Butterfinger candy bar on the table and that they weren’t manufactured in the 1600s, but that’s what my mother would keep in her jewelry box.🤪#artist #ayearforart #oils #art
