@shannonsays That's not how Mastadon works, really. A sizeable portion of Fediverse participants block boosted stuff, to avoid seeing the same things over and over. They want unique material - real comments, not spam. You grow your account by talking with people, not boosting. People find your posts via subscribing to hashtags or following you, not boosting. And since there's no algorithm and no central server setup, boosting only reaches your followers and their followers (presuming their followers don't block). It won't make your posts visible to unrelated accounts off of your own instance. The "boost, boost, boost" mentality of the twit place won't get you far here. People favorite stuff to show they appreciate your post - that doesn't mean they want it showing on their own feed, which boosting does. The Fediverse is designed differently than twitter - on purpose. You need to learn new strategies. Hope this helps.

@shannonsays Yes I am struggling a lot with the lack of interaction here. I left the "Bird Site" back in November, but since I began posting over here there's only been sporadic moments of conversation or community. It's getting rather discouraging, really.

@shannonsays I started on the hellsite wondering why I wasn't getting follows. A common ideology there is more followers=happiness.For me, I learned that's not what made me happy. So I've approached the fedi differently.Boost away and ask others to if that's your jam. I'm really not sure if that technique will work in this forum. Good luck!

@shannonsays It’s a shame you have disdain for likes. Likes are people being friendly and saying they saw, and appreciate your post. That doesn’t necessarily mean they want it on their timeline. If you want interaction why don’t you start a conversation with someone who liked your post instead of scoffing at the like?
