The most worn out thing I hear repeatedly is that "we should focus on the good things instead of the bad things". Guess what, life is shit and we all die eventually. Everything cannot always be good and positive. We have ups and downs and we shouldn't presume to be happy all the time.We should aim to happiness, but it's not realistic to even think you can own it or achieve it constantly. It's in the summit, but to get there is not easy. It's constant learning and battling. The journey will contain happy moments as well as shit. We need to accept that.Over-positivity is often fake and gets me easily annoyed. These people don't tell the bad sides of life in their Instagram stories. It's all shine and glory and all the nihilists and realists are "focusing on the bad" in their opinion. No. It's called life.So don't tell me to forget the bad. It's part of the good. It's part of the whole journey.

@rolle the whole "Happiness all the time" idea is dystopian and unhuman. If you're forced to be happy, you will likely experience psychological torture because of the fact you can't let yourself cry out of sadness.

@rolle As I once read, and agree with: without the bad, the good loses its meaning.I know exactly what you mean.

@rolle the idea is explored in dystopian media like "We Happy Few" and Doctor Who's "Gridlock".For example, in one scene of "Gridlock", there are multiple stalls in the slums literally selling emotions as drugs because people are that dependant. That is horrifying, the commercialisation of basic human emotions.

@rolle Exactly! If we were more honest about the ups and downs of life, we’d all be better off.

@rolle You are absolutely right. Patanjali developed a system to address this exact thing. It's a practice of not being unhappy. Sounds convoluted, but makes sense once you get into it. 🙏
