@judgedread They used to do this thing called 'Shelves' which just put like 10 videos on your front page with black or gay people in them and a message like "today is black tranny week so watch this shit or you're racist".However, because it utilized the same system as other frontpage items, I could go to each one and do "Do Not Recommend Channel" so they don't show up. I'd do this instead of hiding the shelf, and I think that that ruined those channels SEO because I bet a lot of people did the same thing.Now, they've changed the shelves so that there's 2 clicks to look at any black tranny they're shoving in your face. They just make regular YouTube playlists and those playlists do not have any "Do Not Recommend" feature, neither on the playlist itself nor the videos in the playlist.I would have loved to eavesdrop on the board meet where the product inclusivity director (a 26-year-old cat woman who identifies as bisexual despite being in a 6-year-long relationship with a guy named Mike who works in sales) had to have it explained to her that the most common reaction of users was to manually select Do Not Recommend on every channel shown to them.

@josh @judgedread I always select "Do not recommend" on Tim Pool videos and other political normie retard channels and I still get them in my feed. I thought those buttons didn't actually do anything but give them metrics on how much people hate the shit they push super hard.

@josh @judgedread Is there some kind of extension that would allow me to customize the GUI of youtube. I really hate the constant unnecessary changes like not having the options to order videos from first uploaded to recently uploaded.

I'm not seeing any trannies or political shit in my home page and I have not had to perform any additional steps to hide them, they just never showed up. I don't like or dislike videos at all, I was able to do this with just normal YT usage. The only difference is I'm in Poland xD and I pay for YT Red, coz fuck the ads on mobile.

@won5ki They do not show gay shit to Poles. If you change your VPN to the US and connect with a private tab, you will see a totally different array of content. The LGBTQIAP+ shit is very specifically the west and not the east.Stock photo models being white is one of the most immediately obvious differences that I noticed the second I stepped foot off the plane in Ukraine. The ads in the airport were all white. You NEVER see that in the west. It is almost always some mystery meat mix of people and if there is a white person, it's a white woman with a black man. 100% of the time.

@won5ki @josh if you want to have no ads on mobile and not give youtube money i'd recommend newpipe, its not available on the app store but it does free background play, no ads, etc. Its a bit buggy (will sometimes close out of videos if left paused on bg play for too long, for instance) but otherwise great.

@josh @judgedread well, I for one avoid frontpage like a plague and have subscription page bookmarked, but they do keep recommending me random garbage(usually with next to no views) below whatever video I watch but the "do not recommend" always works there.

@josh @won5ki Actually what's funny is visiting the UK once you go like 10 miles outside the boundaries of London or any major city suddenly all the rainbows and hijabs disappear and all the advertisements have white people on them. Like it's night and day. Same for Morocco, not only do all the advertisements only show Moroccans or White models if it's luxury brands, they don't show a single hijab.
