@benis @ThreeOneThreeChris A red dot would beat any iron sight but my current pistol (CZ75) does not have mounts for optics and I don't want to drill them.

@benis @gat Florida is a weird state. Open carry is illegal, so you can't walk around in public and have a pistol in a holster or an AR slung on your back (unless you are on your property), HOWEVER if you are camping, fishing, hunting, at a shooting range, or going to and from said activities you legally can.If you want to see some police malding, that's a good search topic.

just changed. constitutional carry was just passed, so either june or july 1 it will be legal to CC or OC anywhere in the state. not sure why they wait until june or july but my guess is that it gives them time to delete all the bullshit codes from the law books.

@koropokkur @benis @gat Yes constitutional carry is now legal but it's only for conceal carry. Meaning you don't have to get a CW license from the department of agriculture. I'm curious as to what that means for same day gun purchases. There's a three day waiting period, but you can waive it if you have a CCW permit.

@splitshockvirus @benis Texas was similar, but they changed it a few years ago, primarily for the benefit of the people who were entrapped by wardrobe malfunction. The concealed and open carry were made synonymous: a carry license covered either; although the prohibition regime remained split with 30.06 and 30.07 signs. So Florida is not all that weird, it's just a stop on the journey.

@koropokkur @benis @gat What get's me concerned about OC is if they do concesion for the soccer moms that think gun bad.Example: In Texas with my FL CCW permit I can open carry and conceal carry because of the reciprocity, however I have to obey no weapon signs because they are legally enforced. In Florida I can't open carry, but I can conceal carry and I don't have to obey no weapon signs.>inb4 just don't obey the signsLittle hard to do that when they have metal detectors. I hate metal detectors more than anything else.

@splitshockvirus @koropokkur @benis It reminds me when I came to Texas for the first time. I put my Glock 42 into my laptop mag and off-bodied it for the duration. I even handed it over. I felt like a real James Bond.The only time I had a trouble with metal detector was when they had a function at Ladybird Wildflower Center. They started selling drinks there and immediately the property became a 51% area. Uh-oh. You don't screw with that in Texas. I had to excuse myself and ride a shuttle back to parking to deposit my gun.

Not a problem if you know the sheriff but if you are in a large district or you sheriff doesn't feel like approving or getting to your file. You'll basically never get it. I also lied by omission: in addition to the day job at Apple, my friend moonlighted as a practicing attorney, mostly doing 2A cases. Once in a while he antagonized the DA office and apparently they didn't like him very much. Nonethelss his sheriff approved his CCL, and there were no issues with reviewals.
