The Trumpist 5th Circuit has no more standing to question the FDA than a Trumpist District Judge in Amarillo. This ruling is just as political & ideological as the first as it attempts to prevent distribution over healthcare professionals' expertise.By restricting legal abortion & access, lives are in greater jeopardy than taking mifepristone could ever do. @TonyStark The 5th Circuit is actively killing us. Between this, the decision to allow abusers access to guns, and the list goes on, they are actively killing us. Particularly those of us already at most risk of harm.

@TonyStark What's the logic for making it available for only seven weeks when it has been found to be safe and effective for longer than the ten it has been used for? Seven weeks means three weeks after a missed period at best. Good luck getting an appointment in Maryland or Illinois and making the trip if you have to travel from Texas now that it can't be provided by mail. Better than not being available at all, but not great.

@RuthZ Sadly true. I believe we can still fix things because I have to believe that to keep working at it, but it would have been great to have avoided these people being appointed. Big life lesson here.Mifepristone is safe. Carrying unhealthy pregnancies, inability to safely treat miscarriages, having people need to resort to unsafe means, and unlimited gun access is unsafe.

@TonyStark @RuthZ for womens information. Emergency doctors and nurses can care for you whether or not they know about a self-managed abortion. In fact, the symptoms after taking abortion pills are the same as a miscarriage, and the medications in abortion pills don’t show up in blood tests. Ps in my teens “medical staff” told my family that I got the pill at the university health clinic. Be wary of telling your business to “medical staff”

@TonyStark You know, as soon as I looked at the line about "up to seven weeks of pregnancy," I looked at the sixth-week abortion bans that have been imposed since Roe was struck down, and I wonder how much of a difference one week actually makes.And we know SCOTUS has zero interest in restoring or protecting abortion rights, but that's where the appeals process is going next, and I can't see this turning out well for the FDA (reminder: Conservatives also hate the "regulatory state.")

@TonyStarkThe 5th Circuit's ruling has far wider implications than abortion. The activist judges ignored 20 years of medical science that have proven mifepristone to be effective with millions of women, a medication also used for miscarriages. Unless the Supreme Court rules against the 5th Circuit, the FDA's stringent review processes & medical science will be overtaken by religious zealots. A frightening scenario for a wide range of medications and vaccines.

@ClintBarton @TonyStark From my limited understanding, the original decision by Judge Kacsmaryk is so godawful even Alito shrinks from it. I expect this to be stricken down due to the impact this could have on the FDA and the pharmaceutical industry - not on any moral grounds.That said, the steady erosion of reproductive rights will continue.
