On a related note, as much as I dislike JetBrains ToS and licence, they have their sh*t together and produce some of the absolute best tools out there, bar none.MS can stuff their VS Code where the sun don't shine, and don't get me started on Emacs and Vim, please.As much as I love Vim, it is way less powerful out of the box than PyCharm, and, I suspect, even with a lot of and a lot of plugins. ☹️

@ParadeGrotesque I agree Pycharm is a really, really good IDE. I have no idea why people would prefer vscode, at least for Python. I suppose the same goes for their Java/Kotlin IDE which is essentially the same thing.It also does have a halfway decent vi mode built in.

@fedops And I use the vi mode all the time, because that is what my brain is wired to use by now...I will have to learn emacs one of those days, just to see if I can get close to the power of PyCharm.

@ParadeGrotesque Vim and Emacs?! I've heard Real Programmers use cat. ;) And the lesser ones that aren't infallible and may need to edit what they wrote use ed.

@ParadeGrotesque the main thing that trips me up all the time is pasting of text. Specifically that it will place the text where the mouse pointer is rather than where the text cursor is when using the middle button. Horrible. But it doesn't seem to be a setting that can be changed.Oh well. Luxury problem.
