@yogthos Personally I think the laws shouldn't prohibit children from working and earning a fair wage.BUT, instead of the nanny state trying to supervise child-rearing, it is important that both guardians and the community around the guardians are equipped to supervise the practice, i.e. children not working to support parent(s), wage to correspond to the value produced, no violence or threat of violence and many other problems that may occur. That safety-net is long gone in many communities.

@yogthos After all, I worked at the neighbor farm for the same wage as adults, weeding sugar beet, when I was ~12. Paid per mile, so although I was half as fast as the adult, and only as much as I wanted, it became a pretty nice stack to buy an expensive camera for.

@yogthos I had a job as a boy delivering papers. It was excellent preparation for work as an adult: low pay, incredibly stressful, and sometimes dangerous.

@yogthos I'm glad shit like that has been illegal for so long, not even my grand-grandparents remember it.Cuz even 1890s imperial Germany knew that children belong in schools and not factories.

@chillanarchist01 @yogthos Well, #ChildLabour is illegal in #Germany for very good reasons...One is that school visits are compulsory until someone graduated secondary education or reached age 18...the other one is that allowing kids to work negaltively impacts their ability to learn and get good grades.
