       1. The government at any level should not be able to "moot" lawsuits by retracting laws that violate our rights. "Whoopsie doodle but we're not doing it any more" is no excuse at all.2. If a law or policy is found to violate citizens' rights, the lawmakers themselves, personally, should be held accountable.I think these two things on their own would do a lot to help limit government power.

       @BuncyTheFrog The punishment for a law that violates rights should be summary execution. Politicians aren't people anyway, so it's not like it's killing someone of value.

       @BuncyTheFrog It’s my understanding, and observation in a number of cases that it’s uncommon for a government to change a law being challenged by a lawsuit and for the court to then shrug and declare it moot.  Because the judges know very well absent a permanent injunction governments tend to go back and re-reverse themselves.  They’ll only try that sort of game if they’re really seriously on the side of the defendants.
