Like in the real world, on #Fediverse people who post about me-me-me won't make it. Doing this the wrong way they soon start to think "it's so dead here, Mastodon sucks". But that is not the truth. The attitude needs changing. Newsflash: Not everything is about you. Not everything is about me. SOCIAL media is social. It's a place where we should also listen what others have to say. It should be a two-way road, preferably a road with many directions. The commercial "social" medias today are insanely warped.If you were not using social media in, say 2006, you probably don't know what I'm talking about. But the Twitter-era before algorithms from 2006 to 2015-ish was really nice, natural and chronological. People cared about the present, the current and each other. There were good conversations. #Mastodon and the new wave of Fediverse is all that.So, follow EVERYONE, talk to people, ask questions, LISTEN. Don't just boast and post your own stuff while waiting for reactions.

@rolle and it is simply more fun that way. especially as a writer, i am energized by other writers. and shockingly? i have other interests and follow people who share those!😊

@rolle With all due respect, history and experience have shown us that people will do things we haven't expected as yet. They push the envelope.And black hats, bad actors, will figure out how to take advantage where they can. If they haven't already.The great news is that you (admins in general) are created a new kind of entity: peer to peer, organic, cellular, decentralized. We can take lessons from Conway's work on cellular automata and prepare the fediverse for what it can't imagine.
