If you have an MTS email that is connected to your bank - reconsider. MTS emails are being hacked. Relatives of mine had $20k taken from their account overnight and b/c their CU doesn't have 24-hour service, they could do nothing but watch. Someone added themselves to the MTS mobility account of my niece's family and buy a $2000 phone. MTS isn't out any $$ and so doesn't care. I know another person who had a phone purchased under their account as well but it's an MTS email issue.

That’s unfortunate to hear. But without more details it’s just as likely that your relatives had their accounts accessed using stolen, reused passwords from other websites. Claiming that BellMTS email got hacked seems premature

@lester my niece watched emails come into her account and get deleted in real time. Someone hacked the email (and emails of 2 others I know), sent themselves password resets to accounts, effectively locking people out of their bank accounts (1) and MTS mobility accounts (2). Their emails were indeed hacked. You're right, you don't know all the details and a limited format is difficult to share them all.

Thanks for the info. Crummy situation for sure, and I’m not looking to blame the victim here either, even if this ends up being a case of bad cyber hygiene. BellMTS is the correct throat to choke, for not rolling out multi factor authentication by default and making this kind of attack basically impossible
