@aral More seriously, yes, this has been a constant source of worries for me ever since George 'W' Bush arrived in power.I hope 'western' governments (and others!) have some sort of contingency plan in place that is a bit better than just "Ignore the Yanks until their next Presidential election".Because there is a possibility there won't be a (free / honest / uncorrupted) US Presidential election ever again, based on who the next POTUS will be.

@ParadeGrotesque @aral I'll try to be optimistic here... I think the youthful Americans have had enough of this. Their numbers are growing, and they are realizing voting is important.

@lednabm And, this is horrible to say, but COVID-19 is ravaging those older white people right now.We are seeing the direct effect of ideology on these people. And it's not a pretty sight.@aral

@lednabm @frankieEspecially when they see the carnage in their schools, while the adults fiddle their thumbs.This is truly amazing when you look at the numbers for religion: most churches have list all credibility in the eyes of the younger Americans, even in red states. @aral
