       Destroying the Internet Archive will not stop people from piracy. We learned this in the 90s. With infinitely reproducible goods and rampant wealth inequality, piracy can and will flourish. Personally, I think it should. Art and knowledge should be free.What destroying the Internet Archive does is teach people looking for a book or a game ROM how to obtain things from the actually dangerous black market. And normalizes doing so.Creators, your problem is with capitalism. Not the poor.

       @ryanhoulihan It isn't the poor that are violating copyright at scale.It's corporations that want the right to do so while paying nothing or a pittance to the copyright holder.Look at the music distribution industry, it creates "sound alikes" to evade paying creators and pays pennies when it does pay.Corporations use copyrighted material to train AI for free. This is about creating a business model where corporations may violate copyright but not the poor. Just like it did with music.

       @christymarx Well they’re not getting paid right now and the people penalized can’t afford to pay them. So why keep arts and information out of peoples hands? Out of kids hands? They defunding libraries and banning books. Are we a few Harry Potter sales too short for you???

       @ryanhoulihan To put it bluntly, fuck Rowling. But everyday artists and writers should be paid, period. And their work should be available through libraries and other sources. It should NOT be taken and used in violation of copyright. Direct your well-placed energy into fighting the defunding of libraries and making sure your local school doesn't ban books.
