@bibliotequetress The books in our collections were purchased full price (and often library prices are higher than consumer prices). That is how the book trade works. Authors are paid (but not as much as they should be-- but that is the publisher-author issue). The ebooks we can buy we buy and again authors are paid by the publishers. Many of the physical books are donated because they are older books, some purchased.

@brewsterkahle Purchasing a physical book is not the same as purchasing the right to copy duplicate, re-publish, or disseminate a book.
